The Story
Owned and operated by a single person.
If you don’t know anything that goes into making vinyl decals, you will be surprised to find that it can all be done by a single person. That would be me, Andi!
I have been making vinyl since 2015. It started out as a hobby, when I saw someone else making car stickers and thought to myself, “self, we can do that too.” So I spent my college summer-fun money on a plotter and some vinyl and started making fun little things for myself and my car. I also purchased a button maker shortly after to feed my artistic creativity – I was in art college, after all. I have a Bachelor’s of Arts in 3D Arts and Animation, with a specialty in Technical Art, which somehow turned graphic design into my creative outlet.
It wasn’t until 2017 that I decided to make a small business out of it. As with all of the best ideas, I was two toes into a shower when the idea popped into my head: “Push to Start Design.” And it stuck. Push to Start was born.
And while I started with vinyl decals and button pins, I’m a creative at heart, and my desire for expansion is never satisfied. Hence, printed stickers, hand-made charms, key tags, and introducing in 2024, apparel! My ambitions are never ending, and my desire for further expansion is a continuous effort. Some day I hope to produce actual parts.
Even though Push To Start was originally founded in Campbell, California, it has since moved to Olympia, Washington.
Pushtostart’s decals and stickers are produced using a combination of Photoshop, Illustrator, and Procreate, and are heavily inspired by whatever I’m currently interested in at the time. Although it will always revolve around cars in some way, shape, or form.
You can follow Push To Start on instagram @pushtostartdesign to stay the most up-to-date on what is happening! That’s where most updates on new products, new designs, and what’s-happenings are! Push To Start also has a ko-fi account for anybody interested in supporting a little further. Ko-fi is very similar to Patreon, but without the fees, and ask features a one-time donation option! Think of it like a tip jar – or a “buy me a coffee” campaign! Coffee fuels me.
Contact Information
If you need to reach me, the best points of contact are through email or instagram. Send an email to pushtostartdesign@gmail.com with any questions or inquiries, or message me on instagram at @pushtostartdesign. If you have a concern about your order, please make sure you have your order number ready or simply respond to the order confirmation email. I cannot help you with your order if you do not have an order number or confirmation. Orders placed through ebay must go through ebay and will be handled through the official pushtostart ebay account; you will not be helped outside of ebay.
Vinyl Color Guide
Here at Push to Start, I hold a strict policy for quality: if I wouldn’t run it on my own car, then I won’t sell it. Most of the vinyl that I cut is Oracal 651 Premium Vinyl, which is rated as a 6-year vinyl – meaning it won’t fade, crack, or shrink within the first 6 years when treated properly (i.e. not subjected to direct sunlight 24/7, cleaned moderately and regularly, etc). Some of the colors that I have are not Oracal 651 but comparable – for example, the gold chrome that I have is Oracal 351, which just means it is a thinner variant of vinyl. Oracal 651 is a slightly thicker vinyl than, say, the stuff you might get from the craft store.
This guide will currently remain a little incomplete while I set-up a good reference, but here are a couple of color examples for now. The captions that accompany each color will reflect the color options that I have on the website – for example, if you wanted to get Hot Pink (041) and weren’t sure what they actually looks like, simple go to google and search “Oracal hot pink 041” and you’ll see a general idea of what the sheet of color might look like. Of course, monitor and screen variations will change the color, so if you’re extra curious then just send me a message and I can help you out with some more photos or videos of what the color looks like in different light. 🙂 Please note that some of my photo examples are underneath transfer tape, which does change the color or appearance slightly but still gives you a general idea.
The Gold Foil and Black Holographic colors that I stock are thicker than the standard Oracal 651.
Shipping Information
Orders can take up to four weeks to process. Most orders are processed and shipped within the week they are ordered, however there are often exceptions (such as backordered shirt designs). Shipping within the United States typically takes 3 to 7 days. I try to ship USPS Priority Mail as often as possible.
My preferred mailer for stickers and decals is a 6″x9″ flat envelope (sometimes with a cardboard insert). This is to keep shipping costs as low as possible – for you. Orders within the United States that fit in these envelopes qualify for the “flat rate” $2 shipping. I try my best to always have this cheap shipping option available, however it does not include tracking, and is therefore not insured. Push to Start is not responsible for lost packages or failed delivery. If you would like to guarantee a tracking number and/or package protection/insurance, please select the “tracking” shipping option when applicable. If no tracking option is available at checkout, then your order automatically qualifies for tracking and protection.
Larger decals, stickers, and items such as parts and apparel are packaged in longer envelopes and padded bags. All parts are wrapped or packaged individually to protect them from damages, apparel is wrapped in a clothing bag, and stickers and decals are sandwiched between cardboard pieces. I do my best to pack everything in a way where nothing gets damaged or harmed. These items are typically shipped via USPS Priority Mail or equivalent, which includes tracking information by default. Shipping rates are calculated at checkout based on the items you are purchasing.
Again, Push to Start is not responsible for any lost packages or failed deliveries. Please make sure your shipping address is correct when you make your purchase. If the post damages your package, please take pictures before opening it, as well as after, so we can make a claim. See more about returns/refunds and claims below.
As of December 2024, due to the current political environment and fluctuating shipping laws, I will not be accepting orders internationally through the website, except to Australia and Canada. If you are located outside of the United States, please send me an email inquiring about what you are interested in and I can work with you on a shipping estimate. Unfortunately, I will not be able to ship to Europe until they figure out the international shipping situation there.
Returns & Cancellations
The long and short is that I do not accept returns. However, there are always exceptions. So read on:
Due to the made-to-order nature of decals, I do not accept returns or refunds on decals. They are specifically picked by you for you, so therefore it becomes yours. I do not accept returns or refunds on stickers either, unless your entire order must be cancelled before it is shipped. Should something happen to your order before you receive it (such as the mail carrier destroys it), please take a picture or two before you open the package, as well as after to ensure the contents are actually distressed. Contact me as soon as you can so that I can do my best to replace it and file a claim. I do require this photographic proof of a destroyed decal or sticker before a replacement is shipped out.
Should you order a physical item, such as a keychain, charm, or item of apparel, please note that I do not accept returns of any kind, but I do accept refund requests if your order has not been processed and shipped yet. If you pre-order or backorder a shirt, and your shirt has already been prepped, then I reserve the right of refusal to cancel your order (most of my clothing is made to order at this time) or reserve the right to a 35% “restocking fee”.
Should you need to cancel your order, please reach out to me via email with your order number before item manufacturing has begun. Because decals are cut to order and apparel is pressed to order, I reserve the right to refuse a cancellation if manufacturing has already began on your order. If your order only contains items that are pre-made such as keychains or stickers, then a cancellation can be accepted assuming that it has not been packed yet. Any order that has been packed and/or shipped cannot be cancelled, as the order is no longer in my hands at that point.
Items from the parts bin are only eligible for a return if they were purchased through ebay. All parts were tested or functional when removed, unless otherwise stated. Buyers must pay for return shipping, no exceptions, and shipping costs are nonrefundable.
Lastly, Push to Start will not take responsibility for any decals, stickers, or parts ruined upon application or installation. If the backing paper is removed from a decal, Push to Start reserves the right to refuse a refund. This includes partial-removals, such as a large banner or decal. Please ask beforehand if you are worried that you might be doing something incorrectly. For example, if you have trouble with the transfer tape on a decal, try flipping the sticker over and peeling the backing paper from the sticker instead of the transfer tape off the paper.
