PUSH TO START DESIGN | founded october 2017

Owned and operated by a single person.

If you don’t know anything that goes into making vinyl decals, you will be surprised to find that it can all be done by a single person. That would be me, Andi!

I have been making vinyl since late 2015 as a hobby. I saw someone making car stickers and thought to myself, “self, we can do that too.” So I spent my college summer-fun money on a plotter and some vinyl and started making fun little things for myself and my car.

It wasn’t until 2017 that I decided to make a small business out of it. As with all of the best ideas, I was two toes into a shower when the idea popped into my head: “Push to Start Design.” And it stuck. Push to Start was born.

And while I started with vinyl decals and button pins, I’m a creative at heart, and my desire for expansion is never satisfied. Hence, printed stickers, hand-made charms, key tags, and introducing in 2024, apparel!

Even though Push To Start was originally founded in Campbell, California, it has since moved to Olympia, Washington.

Pushtostart’s decals and stickers are produced using a combination of Photoshop, Illustrator, and Procreate, and are heavily inspired by whatever I’m currently interested in at the time. Although it will always revolve around cars in some way, shape, or form.

You can follow Push To Start on instagram @pushtostartdesign to stay the most up-to-date on what is happening! That’s where most updates on new products, new designs, and what’s-happenings are!

Push To Start also has a ko-fi account for anybody interested in supporting further. Ko-fi is very similar to Patreon, but without the fees! Think of it like a tip jar – or a “buy me a coffee” campaign! Coffee fuels me.

The restoration of an AW11 named Misato is what led me to recreating OEM decals, especially since many are either unavailable, or simply too expensive! I am always taking suggestions for more vehicles and decals to recreate, including limited edition or custom sized options. For example, the Twin Cam 16 decals on the tail lights of the MR2 were not available by default in the United States – but they should have been. Misato’s origin can still be viewed on ig@misatomr2, however she has since been sold and continues on with a new owner.

But I do have to give an honorable mention to this additional rescue AW11 for being a great project. This AW11’s restoration won’t be nearly as quick as Misato’s, but it’s coming along bit by bit. Follow ig@misatomr2 for updates on Red Bean too!
